Is A Sustainable Beauty Routine Effective?
The answer is a resounding, yes! Looking good and feeling better no longer has to feel like a moral dilemma, and here’s why…
So, you’re looking to grow a more sustainable beauty routine? Good for you. But before you assume there’s compromises to be made when dealing with your beauty woes in a planet-friendly way, think again. At Love Beauty and Planet, we’re super proud of our results-driven products and the lengths we go to in order to protect our planet while making them. We believe that no person should feel guilty for carrying out an essential self-care routine. Want silky-smooth hair without contributing to plastic waste? Done! Need a hydration hit in the shower without losing sleep over the animals it may have harmed? We’ve got that one covered too. And if you need black and white proof that naturally sourced, vegan, cruelty-free, silicone-free, paraben-free and dye-free products are actually better than their planet-disrespecting counterparts, then look no further…
How nature provides hydrating heroes
There are some beauty ingredients out there that just don’t make us do a happy dance. That’s not to say they’re bad or dangerous, it’s just that we’ve found a natural alternative that outperforms them. Silicone, for example, is an expert hair smoother (there’s a reason so many hair care brands still use it). But it can build up easily in the hair and require pretty full-on cleansing agents (sulfates, another ingredient not invited to the Love Beauty and Planet party) to wash it out again. We invest in moisture-locking oils such as coconut and argan, because not only do they repair damaged strands and provide added protection from the elements, but they’re also able to penetrate the hair shaft, offering the nutrition their synthetic counterparts can’t.
Leaving animals out of it
In our opinion, there’s no need to involve the animals on this planet in the beautification process. Cuddle them, yes. Take pictures of them, totally. But never, we repeat never, test on animals. Take a look at our bottles and you’ll see our cruelty-free and vegan certification. Not only do we not test on animals anywhere in the world, but we also decline to use any ingredients that come directly from an animal, or that are produced by living ones, such as honey and beeswax.
Waste Not, Want Not
There was once a time when eco-friendly beauty looked a bit… uninspiring. The bottles and packaging looked so far from grid-worthy there was no point in even trying to get a nice shelfie. Now, it seems pretty packaging and eco-conscious formulas go hand in hand. Don’t get us wrong, you’ll notice a slight difference in our post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) compared to virgin plastic. Our bottles are slightly cloudier – the small price you pay for not contributing to one-use plastic. And because we’re all about transparency, it’s worth mentioning that our caps currently aren’t PCR. But we love a challenge here at Love Beauty and Planet, so consider that an exciting work in progress.
